Hotwire | Alex MacLaverty - Hotwire

I’m responsible for the smooth running of Hotwire’s global operations, as well as the strategic direction and growth of our businesses across EMEA and ANZ. My role is about driving us forward and making sure that everything we do is focused on making us the best agency our clients and team will ever work with – which in practice means everything from working with our MDs to build out their business plans, our amazing People and Culture team to deliver our Academy programme, our clients to generate incredible results, IT to roll out the latest and greatest technology and our teams to build our expertise and network. There is never a dull moment with a company as ambitious as us, and my main goal is to ensure that as we grow and evolve, we never lose sight of our core values and personality.

I got the bug for publicity at Uni, helping run and promote dance nights and other events, then started in event management before moving into PR and joining Hotwire in 2003 as a programme manager. Since then I’ve looked after most of our practice areas, run our UK business for several years, won and judged SABRE, CIPR and PR Week Awards and joined the PRCA’s Council.

My passion is building genuinely integrated teams and campaigns globally. As an international business I believe we have no choice but to work as ‘one team’ – amplifying our strengths and successes at both a personal and client level to create truly amazing work that resonates across multiple countries. I travel a lot – and love the spark you get from connecting people and ideas, sharing cultures and discovering new things together.

When I’m not at work I can usually be found running around after my little ones, covered in stickers and felt tip. When I get a rare quiet moment though I love nothing better than cooking for friends and family, or curling up with a good book and a nice glass of wine.
